Stephanie began her career at the age of 17 working with students with developmental disabilities. In 2007, Stephanie completed the Developmental Services Diploma at Algonquin College. Stephanie then continued working in various educational settings creating and implementing programs to meet students’ individual needs.
Stephanie graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and minor in Disability Studies in 2012. While completing the BSW program, Stephanie volunteered in New Orleans to help with rebuilding and community development efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Stephanie volunteered in the Bahamas as part of International Community Engagement, which included creating a disability resource guide for teachers, parents, and community members and preparation for the Special Olympics. While completing her BSW, Stephanie worked as a Psychiatric Crisis Worker with at-risk youth at Youthdale Treatment Centre for 8 years, then at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health on the Dual Diagnosis inpatient unit.
Stephanie went on to pursue a master’s in Social Work, graduating in 2017. Stephanie spent 4 years working on the Crisis Intervention Team at Grey Bruce Health Services, while also working on a Mobile Crisis Team with the Canadian Mental Health Association. Tayra has been a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2018. Tayra completed the Honours Bachelor of Social Work program, through Laurentian University in 2018. Since then, she has worked in various settings professionally in an outpatient mental health setting with the Assertive Community Treatment team and as an emergency department crisis worker.
